My Yacht Experience - Yacht and Boat Management
Navigating the sea of endless suppliers, service providers, and resources can be a daunting task for any yacht or boat owner. Finding reliable and quality minded resources to work on your pride and joy can be overwhelming. With over 25 years of yacht and boat ownership, management, maintenance, and repair, we know what it takes to keep your vessel in top shape. We do much of the work ourselves and can manage the work of third party providers that we've successfully used ourselves. Let us do the work so you can enjoy your vessel. We have managed diesel and gasoline powered vessels and have extensive experience with all onboard systems.
General System Checks (absentee owner)
We are here when you can't be. From doing periodic system checks and visual inspections, to running your engines and generators, we are licensed captains with many years of experience. We log abnormal conditions, take photos, and report back to the owner with recommendations to obtain direction and approvals where remediation is necessary.
Examples of general system checks:
- Dock line and tie-up check
- Bilge pump operation
- Internal bilge water leaks
- Alarm checks
- Oil and fluid levels and leak indications (main engines and generator(s))
- Hose and belt condition
- Sea strainer check and cleaning
- Shaft seal visual inspections
- Seacock inspection
- Air conditioning water flow and temperature check
- Engine and generator operation (where requested)
- Fresh water flow and tank level
- Head operation and tank level (arrange for pump out where available)
Routine Maintenance
Performing routine maintenance of the vessel appearance and systems is key to maximizing reliability and long term performance of your yacht or boat. These system each have their own recommended maintenance intervals and require a diverse set of skills to perform. We can provide maintenance on many systems ourselves and where required we can arrange for other providers and oversee their work as an experienced project/vendor manager to ensure the highest quality and results.
Examples of maintenance services:
- Exterior cleaning and washing
- Exterior detailing services (compound/polish/wax/ceramic coating)
- Interior "house" cleaning
- Bottom cleaning and zinc replacement
- Oil and filter changes
- Air conditioning cleaning
- Fuel filter changes
- Remove oil samples for lab analysis
- Belt and hose replacement
- Fuel injector removal and testing
- Heat exchanger and cooler removal and testing
System Repair and Upgrade
Given the nature of boating and the harsh environment, repair of systems are inevitable. With the evolution of technology and general wear and tear of many items onboard components will require repair or replacement. From replacing a faulty bilge pump, to installing new electronics, repairing a refrigerator or one of your air conditioning units, all of these activities require skilled and experienced support to complete. As your Yacht/Boat Manager, we can perform many of these types of repairs and upgrades ourselves and have established relationships with providers of these products and access to additional skilled expertise when required. In all cases, we will be responsible for the outcome and oversee the work being performed to ensure it meets your expectation and our agreement.
Examples of repair and upgrade services:
- Arrange for haul out when required at a local yard
- Perform the service ourself where we are able and it makes financial sense
- Oversee all work to ensure it meets expectations
- Relocate yacht/boat as needed with our licensed Captain(s) to the repair yard
